Sheet Metal Workers Local 58- Syracuse, NY
Apprenticeship in the Sheet Metal trade entrails working with extreme heights the work on ladders can be dangerous. Sheet metal workers must utilize fall protection when exposed to a fall of 6 feet or greater while performing any extreme heights operations. Lifting heavy materials 50-75 pounds would be a range to look at for a straight lift with no turning movement depending on physical capability of the individual involved, we would always encourage workers to ask for assistance. Sheet metal workers must be able to stand for long periods and crawl about in confined cramped spaces in awkward positions. Working outdoors on noisy construction sites exposes sheet metal workers to various kinds of weather conditions such as rain, snow and wind. You will be required to wear hardhats and safety glasses. On some jobs self-contained breathing apparatuses may be required. The determination of these items is on job-by-job basis.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Age: Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical Condition: Must be physically able to perform work as required confirmed and submitted by applicant
Education: Minimum requirements include high school diploma or GED recognized by the State Education Department
Successfully completed coursework needed
- Algebra, one year with passing grade or-
- Math Course 1 passing grade or-
- Passing Regents Math
Transportation: Must have a valid New York State Drivers License, as you may be required to drive company vehicles. Need a reliable means of transportation to and from work and school.
