Heavy Equipment Mechanic

This position will perform mechanical repairs - at the shop or in the field - on our mobile earth moving equipment, trucks and other miscellaneous smaller pieces of equipment. Requires occasional short-term travel.



  • Performs preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to equipment, trucks, tractors, dozers, excavators, as well as paving, and similar self-propelled equipment of owned & rental equipment and vehicles.

  • Operate welding equipment where necessary to repair equipment,  

  • Performing major repair work when necessary. 

  • Repairs equipment using stick welder, wire feed welder, cutting torch and/or plasma cutter as required. 

  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications. 

  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records. Report any damaged or faulty equipment to management.  

  • Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users. 

  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance. 

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.  



Requirements


  •  Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technology Degree (a plus) 

  • Proficient welding skills necessary. 

  • Manual dexterity 

  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. CDL and/or air brake endorsement preferred.

  • Understanding of computer testing technologies, hydraulic, electrical, gas and diesel systems. 

  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment. 

  • Ability to work after-hours and weekends, if required. 

  • Good communication skills. 

  • Self-starter with a strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.
