Apprentice Electrician
An Inside Apprentice Wireman at IBEW Local 231 is a trainee electrician working under experienced journeymen to learn the trade through a structured apprenticeship. They assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The role combines paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction, focusing on safety, electrical theory, and code compliance, with the goal of becoming a licensed journeyman wireman.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist journeyman electricians with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
- Measure, cut, bend, and install conduit
- Pull wire and install electrical components such as outlets, switches, and lighting
- Read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment
- Follow all safety procedures, OSHA standards, and electrical codes
- Support troubleshooting and basic electrical repairs
Apprenticeship & Training
- Can use GI Bill for this apprentiship to subsidise pay
