Apprentice Electrician

Assist Journeymen inside wiremen with various electrical installations.


The IBEW is looking for Apprentice Electricians of all skill levels. We are a four year Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program that serves central Alabama. Our program provides paid on the job training on various types of electrical construction projects including residential, commercial, and industrial. You will also receive 180 hours of classroom study at our training facility in Birmingham. Classes are one night a week from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. There is no cost for this program other than your books and training materials which average to $700 a year. You will have guaranteed wage raises at the completion of each year of apprenticeship. You will also get Blue/Cross Blue Shield Insurance and three retirement programs all at no cost to you. You can also use your GI Bill benefits and supplement your income while you complete your training.


Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid drivers license 
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • DD-214/Our program is an approved sponsor for GI Bill Benefits
  • High School Transcripts
